Russia Not Utilizing Its Logistics System May Mean the End of the War
Touching on an article written by Brandley Martin, Director of RAND National Security Supply Chain Institute, Russia's eventual downfall in the war with Ukraine could be due to its failure in utilizing its logistics system. Russian supply chain and economic system, though thorough and dominating in the global fuel and oil industries, seem to be exposed to intense challenges due to Ukraine's resilience in the war. Russia has received extreme condemnation from other nations, especially from NATO and the European Union, for their unprovoked, unjustified invasion of Ukraine. This denunciation has caused massive amounts of economic eviction of Russian goods and services to not aid in their war agenda. Martin went on to state,
"A nation often cannot hope to continue a war without trading directly with the enemy. Such is the case with Russia, which has long been selling its oil to nations that directly support Ukraine. In March 2022, half of Russia's crude oil exports and 75 percent of its natural gas exports went to countries in the European Union. When the nations of the European Union prosper, they consume oil and gas. When those same nations prosper, they produce more of the kinds of military equipment needed by the Ukrainians in their war against Russia. And so, Russia's reliance on its energy exports causes it to sustain the very economies that are now supplying Ukraine with tanks and missiles to use against Russians."
These logistical issues have hampered Russia's ability to extend its control over Ukrainian territory and gain a decisive victory, and in the long run, will likely be its downfall in the war with Ukraine.
